Of marching band and reed

Hi:)

It's almost a week after the last paper of the 3rd semester examination.

In few days time will be joining the Latihan Intensif Brass Band (LIBB) in short or it's like a 10-days-training for newbies, teaching them off-basic marching band and to play instruments (for sure)!

Would just like to share some of the experiences when I joined the training session during my 1st semester break. ;)

Our manual book
10 days training is as hell sure will be a long week for trainees, adding up the fact that other friends are already enjoying their semester break at home.

Yes, I can't deny that the first three days, especially when you have zero knowledge in music and marching stuff are quite hard. It even feels like three days just to finish half day of training !!

......

But...another fact which is having great teachers and seniors around you, with new friends in your section will make you just fine.

Along the time interval too, you will not only learn music thingy, but there will also be games, group activities, some light exercises and other stuff as well. Another major turn on about the LIBB is their..... FOODS!!!! You won't regret the whole week when they will serve you delicious foods for breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and supper. If I'm not mistaken 6 times per day. (tak bersyukur jugak makan free dop tahu lah)

It is yet another cool thing (again) when you are given chance to pick your favourite instrument or what ever you desire to play in the band. No worries because the senior will first show some performance so that you can hear each sound of the instruments. No sure what to pick ? Google it ! :p

Our cool senior also teachers

I'm not telling you the whole thing happened during the LIBB as it is the best for you to feel it on your own and translate it on your own version.

A reminder for you to know is..  10 days may seems long. But actually it is NOT ENOUGH to finished more than 5 songs. Yes, definitely you will feel the pressure and the need of pushing yourself to finish em. Especially if you're from woodwind section (which will be seated at the front line).

At the very last day of the training (day 10) is the closing ceremony and the trainees will be performing the songs you learn the previous 9 days in orchestra block. At that time, you'll surely feel cool. As cool as what I'm feeling. LOL. There will be VIP watching your performance, if you're lucky you'll be captured in video or pictures.
All sections in :) (except bagpipes)

This is part of the orchestra block !

So that's it.. I'm creating this post because this is exactly what I did before joining the LIBB. Google-ing, searching articles or blogs about the 10 day so-hell-training ;) And in a few days time I'll be joining the LIBB for the second time but this time not as trainee, but as one of the committee member. Time flies.
